THE LANUZA LAST NAME, AROUND THE WORLD (I)

I have always done, about my last name, two types of considerations: One positive, stressing I know there is a pretty village in the Valle de Tena, who bears my name. Also know the history of Spain, have ventured to say that since it is rare called that, my ancestors were historical figures. And another negative, making jokes regarding the tragic end of some of them, when they dared to challenge the most powerful Spanish monarch in whose dominions that the sun never set.

The truth is that like, it is difficult to establish a line of continuity between family over the centuries. We have problems of different kinds. The destruction of records is one of them, the customs of the names, but also the neglect of historians of the past, and the snare of the current, which consider the historical characters, as a defender of the interests of the oligarchy Aragonian nobility, related with them.
At present, there are in Spain around 2,212 people who call first or middle name Lanuza. They focus mainly on a 523 Zaragoza, Huesca 458 people and Barcelona 344. Operating in Teruel with 59 people, Valencia 48 , Alicante 55 , Castellón with 8, Santander 42 people , Oviedo 1 , Tarragona 14 , Lerida with 20, Las Palmas 17 , Valladolid 13, Zamora 12, Burgos with 5, Baleares 7 , Navarra 9 , Ciudad Real with 10 , Sevilla 13 , Málaga 7 and Madrid with 60 people. But in the U.S. are 749, and in South America , under the name Lanussa , Lanusse or Lanus , we could find many more, maybe about 1,160 people . His arrival occurs gradually, and since the death of Queen Isabel of Castilla in 1504, when Felipe III be definitively granted free access to all Indian nationals of its monarchy, there are probably Lanuza´s who participated in the conquest and colonization of America or Philippines Islands. What we can certainly say is that , using a simple demographic model , we probably have more than the name in common, and that originally the migrations of their ancestors came primarily and particularly of Aragon from Huesca.

Tweaking further established in the province of Huesca, we see that about 1910 were born on 8 persons in Yesa (Navarre), not living after none . In Borrés near Sabiñánigo town other 2 and also found one in Vicién Village, Esposa Village, Bescós of Garcipollera , Oliván Village , Apiés Village another 2  people in Igriés Village, other 2  in Villanovila , also Lanuza Village, Panticosa, Villanúa, Bolea, Plasencia del Monte, Chimillas , Larrés , Escuer and Jaca Town. Migratory movements led them largely to Huesca City, Zaragoza and Barcelona City, having recorded specific migration to Africa and many more to America.

By notary documents we know that in the eighteenth century were present at least in Esposa, Escuer , Arguisal , Ipies , Apies and Igries Village .
In inventories householders from 1547-1708 we see the presence of the same in Esposa Village, Apiés and Igriés . But there is no presence in Lanuza, Escuer or Arguisal Village.

The documentation that exists from the twelfth to the sixteenth century, shows a family that extends primarily to Sallent of River Gallego´s Village and later Arguisal, Apiés, Plasencia del Monte, Escuer, Isún Basa and Huesca City. Whether Mesnaderos Knights, and lackeys (type of squires or nobles or other companions what richmen walk in battle) or peaceful farmers in times of peace, the historical characters involved in almost every major political events of the Crown of Aragon, and will be featured judges and marshals in the Pyrenean Valleys, prized for their common sense and good judgment.
